CALL FOR DEMOS

IEEE PIMRC 2017 solicits submissions for live demonstrations of research results intended to provide interested researchers from both academia (universities and colleges) and industry with the opportunity to showcase their experimental work on wireless techs & apps before IEEE PIMRC 2017 attendees.

Submissions should include an extended abstract of up to three pages using the templates provided below. Abstracts should explicitly state what will be demonstrated to the PIMRC audience, and how the attendees will be able to interact, enjoy, and experiment. A full list of authors with complete affiliation should be included. Power and wireless Internet connectivity will be available at the venue. Please clearly state in your e-mail to the Demos & Exhibition Co-Chairs (not in the abstract) if any additional resources are needed for arrangements to be made early on (additional fees might apply).

Submitted demo abstracts will be reviewed on the basis of scientific merit, novelty, and practical applicability. Selected abstracts will be included in the conference program and also made available online at the conference website.

Given the fact that demo presentations, compared to technical papers, obviously serve different objectives and that they are not meant to be indexed nor published online by IEEE Xplore®, please be advised that they will be reviewed for compliance and merit then notified for acceptance or rejection as they come in on a first-come first-served basis, a priori within three business days from submission date . As such, the important dates given below are to be seen as hard deadlines after which no more submissions can be accepted due to logistical constraints, even if remaining capacity would still allow accommodating more. Should, however, full capacity be reached before these important dates, the latter will immediately be revised accordingly to announce that the conference is no longer accepting demo submissions. Indeed, please be advised that we have already received a record number of review manuscripts in the regular tracks, workshops, and special sessions by the expiration of their respective deadlines.

At least one student author of each accepted demo is required to: 1) both i) register at nonrefundable full or limited demo author rate (codes R09 to R12) and ii) resubmit the camera-ready version of the demo abstract – that accounts for any review comments and still complies with the templates provided below – within three days from notification date; and 2) present his/her demo at the conference. Or otherwise the accepted demo presentation will be withdrawn.

A Best Student Demo Award will be granted by IEEE PIMRC 2017 based on innovation and technical merit.

IMPORTANT DATES

Extended abstracts will be reviewed as they are received until full capacity is reached. Notification of acceptance will be sent out after each review (cf. details above). The latest submission & notification dates (pending availability in space) are as follows:

  • Submission of demos open until: 2017-09-25 (CLOSED)
  • Notification of acceptance until: 2017-09-27
  • Camera-ready of demos until: 2017-09-29
